Firm admins can now set firm-wide default email notification settings across the products your firm has enabled, and decide which email notifications individual users are allowed to change for themselves. Each user gets a matching preferences screen to fine-tune the alerts they receive for anything left open to them. Email notifications for modules your firm hasn’t turned on stay hidden, and newly added notification types are clearly flagged as new.
Why this matters
Firms get sensible, consistent defaults out of the box while still letting individuals tune what reaches their inbox — less noise, fewer missed updates, and no support ticket required to change who hears about what.
You can now control the date that lands on an invoice. A new billing setting sets your firm’s default (the send date, the creation date, an unbilled-as-of date, or a specific day of the month), and the draft invoice preview pre-fills to match. You can still override the date on any individual invoice before sending.
Why this matters
Invoice dating now follows your firm’s policy automatically, with the flexibility to adjust case by case, meaning no manual edits on every invoice, and cleaner, more predictable records.
Time and materials invoicing is now live. On a T&M engagement, you can include time entries on an invoice and see any adjustments applied as a clear Credit column. This ensures the billed amount always ties back to the underlying time. Access is governed by a new “Attach Time Entries to Invoices” permission — Editors and Admins have it by default, and other roles can be granted it through permission sets when your firm is ready.
Why it matters
When a client needs a line item breakdown of time spent, T&M invoices allow as much detail as needed to be included on the invoice.
Engagements that collect a prepayment now reflect their true status instead of jumping straight to “Executed.” In the Firm Portal, staff see new Prepayment Processing and Prepayment Failed indicators and can filter the engagements grid to find anything that needs attention; an engagement stays in its sent state until the prepayment clears. Clients see matching status indicators in their portal and, if a payment fails, are guided straight back to the payment step to try again.
Why this matters
Firms always know where a prepaid engagement actually stands, and clients get a clear path to fix a failed payment — fewer surprises, fewer follow-up calls, and faster completion.
The client portal now opens to a single task list. Clients see everything their firm is waiting on across every engagement in one place, organized by entity and split into open and completed work, with filtering and sorting for clients carrying a lot of items. Request items, deliverables, and items from integrations like SafeSend all sit together as their own tasks at the top level, rather than buried inside projects and tabs.
Why it matters
Clients no longer drill through projects and tabs to find what their firm needs. They land on one list of what’s theirs to do, so they respond faster and have a clear view of everything that’s needed from the firm
When a firm delivers a tax return through SafeSend, it now appears automatically in the client portal as a task on the right contact, with the secure link to review and sign. The firm no longer has to create a deliverable, attach it to a project, and link the return by hand. Returns with more than one signer, like a taxpayer and spouse, each get their own task and a personalized access link matched to that signer, and a task closes on its own once that person finishes signing.
Why it matters
Clients see their return next to everything else their firm needs and sign through one link, and firms skip the manual work of getting each return in front of the right person.
Firms using Caseware Cloud can now push files from an Aiwyn request list directly into the right Caseware engagement and folder, with no downloading and reuploading in between. From the request list, a firm user picks the Caseware project and folder, sends the files over, and sees whether each file synced or errored so staff can retry without leaving Aiwyn.
Why it matters
Audit teams stop moving documents between the client portal and Caseware by hand, which saves time during fieldwork and keeps files landing in the right binder.
